Each volunteer once selected will be expected to pay £550 towards the project cost, £150.00 upon accepting a place and the balance of £400.00 about six weeks before departure. JOAC will cover any additional costs of travel, insurance, medical kits, vaccinations, food and accommodation for the duration of the project. JOAC will also fund all the materials and supplies necessary in order to complete the project. The volunteers engage in Jersey fundraising activities to finance additional community support in the host country.
Applications from potential volunteers with a minimum of 5 years residency in Jersey are given preference.
Upon return providing the volunteer has maintained a good standard of behaviour throughout, completed a debrief questionnaire and attended the welcome back meeting £50.00 will be returned.
A recommended kit list will be provided and any items that may need to purchased will be at the volunteers expense.
After the project has been completed the team usually have a couple of days to relax and visit a place of local interest before returning home, which is at the expense of volunteers.
Once selected to become a member of a team you will be expected to attend team meetings and various training sessions which will be organised for you. You will also be expected to take part in fund raising activities. This will take up a considerable amount of time so you should consider your circumstances carefully before applying.
